Chatting with Cheryl on the Arthritis Life Podcast

Have you ever been invited to do something that scared you, but you knew it would be good for you, so you said yes anyway? Stepped up and out of your comfort zone to reach toward a goal?  I’ve been doing more and more of that since I started sharing my journey with you here.  So, last month when I was invited to sit down with Cheryl Crow, the enthusiastic host of the Arthritis Life podcast, naturally I said yes.  Nervously, knowing full well zoom calls make me feel a bit awkward, talking about myself, doubly so, I said yes anyway.  Yes, to reaching out to more people.  Yes, to advocating for advocacy.  Yes, to facing the discomfort to help someone I will likely never meet.  Yes, to amplifying my voice and supporting my goals.  I said yes. The result?  One of the most comfortable chats about life with rheumatoid arthritis I’ve ever had, recorded for all of you to enjoy.

After a bit of a nervous start, Cheryl and I settled in for a great conversation covering everything from my complicated diagnosis story, to finding my footing afterward, to parenting with chronic illness and my complex relationship with the word disability.  I shared the mixed feelings I had upon diagnosis, and some of the things that lead me to creating this blog.  We wrap it up with a great discussion about the difference between feeling okay and thriving and how you communicate that to people who can help you.  Advocacy makes all the difference in the battle for your own health.  Follow the link and check it out for yourself
